Patio Pride AAS Organic Pea Seeds

Sale price  $3.50 Regular price  $3.99

Patio Pride grows shelling peas on compact plants. Let the peas fill their pods, then shell them for supper; the pods are not the snap-pea harvest.

Packet: 20 seeds

Planting at a glance

  • Season: Cool season
  • Start: Direct sow and provide support as needed
  • Seed depth: 1–1½ inches
  • Germination: Usually 9–14 days around 50–65°F
  • Final spacing: Thin to about 2–3 inches along the support; leave room between rows for picking
  • Light: Full sun
  • Harvest planning: Typical crop window: 60–80 days from direct sowing

When to plant

Plant during your local cool growing season. In colder regions, use spring or late-summer/fall sowings and allow enough growing time before hard freezes. South Florida outdoor window: November–February.

How to plant

  1. Prepare loose, well-drained soil or a clean seed-starting mix. Direct sow and provide support as needed.
  2. Sow 1–1½ inches deep. Keep the seedbed evenly moist until seedlings emerge. Then water when the soil needs it, allowing excess water to drain.
  3. Thin or transplant to the listed final spacing. Give seedlings sufficient light and check moisture as roots establish.

How to harvest

For snap peas, pick crisp edible pods before they become tough. For shelling peas, let peas fill and shell them; use the variety’s pod type.

Aunt E’s tip: Keep peas and warm-season beans on different planting schedules.

Growing notes and sources

Timing is a planning range, not a guaranteed harvest date. Temperature, moisture, variety and season affect the result. Count from the sowing or transplanting point stated above.
