55-65 days—Alaska Nasturtiums

Alaska nasturtiums are a stunning, variegated variety of this popular edible flower. The plants feature unique, cream-marbled green foliage that adds visual interest to gardens even before the blooms appear. When in flower, Alaska nasturtiums produce a vibrant mix of yellow, orange, and red blossoms that stand out beautifully against the variegated leaves.

These compact plants grow to about 12-14 inches tall and spread 12-18 inches, making them ideal for containers, hanging baskets, or as colorful ground cover. Their trailing habit also works well in window boxes or cascading over walls and raised beds.

Both the flowers and leaves of Alaska nasturtiums are edible, offering a peppery flavor that adds a zesty kick to salads, garnishes, and other culinary creations. The blooms are also excellent for attracting pollinators to your garden.

Sowing Instructions: Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date. Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep and 10-12 inches apart. Nasturtiums prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade. They thrive in poor to average soil and don't require fertilization.

Average Seed Life: 3-5 years
