Plant & Heal Co.
Food security starts with a seed
Grow with what you got.
Plant & Heal Co. is a Black woman-owned seed store and edible plant nursery connecting growers nationwide with seeds, edible plants, growing knowledge, and practical education. We believe growing food should be accessible, culturally relevant, and useful—whether you have a farm, backyard, patio, or a few containers.
Founded by Erica Andrea McRae, known as Erica Plants, our work brings together agricultural retail, nursery production, food-security education, responsible growing practices, and the people and communities behind our food.
What we do
We supply seeds and edible plants and create approachable lessons for new and experienced growers. Beyond retail, our work includes horticultural education, nursery and growing-space planning, edible landscape consultation, and conversations about food systems, agricultural entrepreneurship, and stewardship of land and water.
Our work in the community
Our projects and collaborations are about putting useful growing knowledge into more hands. The Legacy Seed Boxes collaboration with Upendo Estates is one example of how we connect seed access with community-centered learning. We also share our perspective through educational programming and media, including recognition in Cuisine Noir.
More than a seed store. Here’s how we grow through polyculture
Polyculture shapes how we grow and how we build: different plants, skills, and ventures contributing to a connected whole. Our branches bring growing knowledge, community, and food security together.

What we believe
We believe in growing through polyculture: tending useful relationships among plants, people, knowledge, and opportunity. Growing food should feel possible, not reserved for people with acres. Plant knowledge belongs in the hands of the people who use it. Our food stories, seed stories, and community stories deserve to be remembered and shared.
Plant something. Heal something.
