Red Grano Onion
This sweet, mild onion is a favorite in Southern gardens, but it can be grown successfully in many parts of the country. Red Grano onions develop into large, globe-shaped bulbs with a beautiful red color, often weighing up to a pound each!
As a short-day onion, Red Grano is ideal for Southern states, where it's typically planted in fall for a spring harvest. However, gardeners in long-day regions can still enjoy these onions by starting them indoors and transplanting in early spring for a late summer harvest.
These versatile onions are great raw in salads, grilled for a smoky sweetness, or cooked into your favorite dishes. They're especially tasty when made into onion rings!
To plant: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-drained soil. In short-day regions, plant in fall. In long-day areas, start indoors and transplant in spring. Thin seedlings to 4-5 inches apart. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged. Harvest when tops begin to fall over and dry out.
Packet: 50 seeds
