Parisienne Carrots Heirloom Organic Seeds

Sale price  $3.50 Regular price  $3.99

Parisienne grows small, round orange carrots. Its short root shape offers a useful alternative where a long carrot would struggle, though the seedbed still needs loose soil.

Packet: 75 seeds

Planting at a glance

  • Season: Cool season
  • Start: Direct sow where the roots will grow
  • Seed depth: ¼ inch
  • Germination: Usually 7–21 days; maintain even seedbed moisture
  • Final spacing: Sow thinly, then thin to 1–3 inches according to root size; rows about 10–18 inches apart
  • Light: Full sun
  • Harvest planning: Begin checking baby roots when usable; full roots often take about 60–90 days from direct sowing, depending on variety

When to plant

Plant during your local cool growing season. In colder regions, use spring or late-summer/fall sowings and allow enough growing time before hard freezes. South Florida outdoor window: September–March.

How to plant

  1. Prepare loose, well-drained soil or a clean seed-starting mix. Direct sow where the roots will grow.
  2. Sow ¼ inch deep. Keep the seedbed evenly moist until seedlings emerge. Then water when the soil needs it, allowing excess water to drain.
  3. Thin or transplant to the listed final spacing. Give seedlings sufficient light and check moisture as roots establish.

How to harvest

Check a sample root for size, then lift carefully. Small-root and baby varieties may be ready before a full-sized storage carrot.

Aunt E’s tip: A dry crust can stop tiny seedlings. Keep the seedbed moist and avoid heavy watering that washes seeds away.

Growing notes and sources

Timing is a planning range, not a guaranteed harvest date. Temperature, moisture, variety and season affect the result. Count from the sowing or transplanting point stated above.
